Question Submitted Apr 21, 2011

Since I use tap water to brew, should I be using campden tablets to treat the water or do you think this is an unnecessary step. Also, if you think I should be using them, do you sell them at your shop? Thanks for your help.

Answer

Hi Matt, even though i've read that before, my personal opinion is i don't like to add sulfite to my beer. I never had a problem with off tastes in my beer from chlorine. I' understand that a good portion of the chlorine to eliminated from the boiling. Before i would add sulfite to my brewing water i would get spring water at the store that is not chlorinated. Just my opinion! Hoppy Brewin....Mr. Steve
