Ask Mr. Steve
I am making black lager as my first homebrew. It started active fermentation between 12 and 24 hours, but then when I moved it to a cooler place in my basement, bubbling has slowed to once every 30 seconds or so. It's only been 5 days. Is this slow bubbling normal? The basement is 59 degrees, but the kit made that temperature sound ok.

Answer
Hi Ben, the lagers always take longer to ferment. As a matter of fact a typical lager will take about 3 weeks to ferment. If you look at my "Lager" instructions in my instructions page it will walk you through the process. Hope this helps you Ben. Hoppy Brewin! Mr. Steve
