Brewmutt's Pale Ale

Classification: Pale Ale

Description

This is  a nicely balanced Pale Ale recipe. Lightly hopped and a beautiful golden color, this beer are for those who don't prefer the hoppy IPA's. A nice thirst quencher and well balanced. Just like so many of the great ones, it’s simple and easy to make, but is an excellent and great tasting brew.

Ingredients

7 lbs Muntons Light Bulk Malt Extract

1/2 lb of crystal malt

1 - oz Cascade hops - bittering (1 hr.) 7 - 10 HBU
1/2 oz Cascade hops the last 5 minutes

WLP 001 California Ale yeast. or safale us-05 dry yeast


Instructions

Put crystal malt in muslin bag and toss in your brew pot with cool water. Slowly heat to just to a slight boil and remove grains. Add the malt extract and return to a boil. Add 1 ½ oz of Cascade hops and boil for 55 minutes. Add ½ oz of Cascade hops and boil for 5 mins. Cool and add to fermenter. Top off with enough cold water to make 5 gals. Pitch yeast when temp is about 75 deg.
